Abstract

In recent years, live streaming has emerged as a new type of platform that allows streamers and viewers to interact in real time. Viewers can enjoy the streamers' performances and reward the streamers with tips. Previous research has shown that streamers' emotions have a significant impact on viewers' tips. Drawing on the literature on psychological well-being and emotion regulation, we extend previous research by investigating how streamer emotion diversity affects viewer tips. Using a unique dataset from a live streaming platform and applying video analytics, we find that streamer emotion diversity is positively associated with viewer tips. We further examine the moderating effect of streamer experience. We find that the effect of emotional diversity is stronger for the more experienced streamers. Our research also provides important implications to both researchers and practitioners.Include your abstract here followed by the keywords as indicated.
