Abstract

Living and art have continuously been intertwined in the twenty-first century due to the development of digital technology. Both networking and digitisation have positive and negative impacts on artists and society. This brand new dynamic between art and life could have an impact on Asian creative industries. Some Chinese computer and technology experts follow the fad by producing digital art with Chinese characteristics. Technology is used by digital, new media and video artists to evoke feelings and experiences. They should not be compared to those who work in traditional painting and handicraft because they are specialised artists who use digital art to express their present and future experiences and sentiments. They wish to venture into new artistic terrain. A scientific perspective and reflective abilities are required in order to understand these new creative endeavours. If the contemporary era's themes are art and science, then digital and new media artists should combine artistic and scientific ideas. They would thus constitute one of the several subfields of art history. More technological abilities will aid in the growth of digital art as it gains in popularity and in the interest of IT professionals.
