Technology assessment: A socio-cognitive perspective

Abstract

Researchers use different approaches for assessing technologies. We develop this proposition by examining differences in approaches that 'insiders' and 'outsiders' use in their assessment of health care technologies. We also illustrate how the juxtaposition of these contrasting approaches creates a dynamic technological field and impacts technology selection.
