Abstract

This chapter sets out to consider relevant theoretical contexts and pedagogical approaches and to provide a snapshot of current implementations of translation technology teaching. In the first part, rationale, course content and approaches are all considered in some detail from a theoretical point of view. Following that, the second, more practical part offers an overview of different training types, enumerates the various types of technology that can most often be found in university-level curricula and ends with a brief discussion of a selection of problems and challenges with which course designers and deliverers are currently faced. Throughout the chapter the focus is mainly on university training, although other types are also briefly considered.
