Abstract
Catalytic C-H functionalization falls into three categories: (1) the reaction of a (hetero)arene C-H bond with a (pseudo)halide; (2) the reaction of a (hetero)arene C-H bond with an organometallic reagent; and (3) the reaction between two (hetero)arene C-H bonds. The first type of reaction is oxidation-neutral, while the second and third types of reaction require a sacrificial oxidant. Herein, selected representative examples for intermolecular nondirected C-H bond functionalizations of (hetero)arenes with (pseudo)halides for constructing bi(hetero)aryl derivatives, in recent decades, are described.
