Abstract
Fluid antenna (FA) systems represent a transformative technology for sixth-generation (6 G) wireless networks, offering dynamic repositioning of radiating elements to enhance spatial diversity and link robustness beyond the limitations of fixed-position antennas (FPAs). Through FA multiple access (FAMA), multiple users can simultaneously access shared channels, significantly improving spectral efficiency in multi-user environments. In this article, we propose a meta-fluid antenna (MFA) architecture that synergistically combines fluid antenna reconfigurability with inverse scattering principles for integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) in 6G networks. The proposed MFA-enabled framework leverages dynamic antenna positioning to achieve both advanced sensing functionality and superior communication performance. We begin by introducing the fundamental principles of FA design, inverse scattering, and FAMA-based communication, highlighting their synergistic benefits. We then present the MFA-enabled multi-user ISAC architecture and explain its operational mechanisms. Furthermore, a case study is conducted to evaluate the feasibility and performance of the proposed system through simulation results. Finally, we discuss potential extensions of the proposed framework and outline key research challenges that may guide future development in MFA-enabled ISAC systems.
