N2 - A survey was conducted on 68 small-and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which showed that balanced combination of management support, technology and organizational structural factors is necessary for successful knowledge management (KM) program implementation in SMEs. Nearly half (49.2%) of the respondents stated that the primary goal in pursing KM in their organizations is to manage knowledge resources and the sources, then to increase profit, to reduce duplication of work, and to gain competitive competitive advantages. About 70.6% of the respondents stated that their organizations neither possess nor intend to install any KM related technical support such as corporate yellow pages and groupware. More than half of the respondents stated that their organizations have a favorable and simple structure that promotes collective rather than individual behavior, thus encouraging inter-personal interaction and sharing of knowledge among employees.
