Abstract

An automatic mesh generator for 3D objects is presented in this paper. The mesh generator has been divided into several components: 1. a component which calculates the medial surface of an object; 2. a component which uses the information provided by the medial surface to guide the subdivision into a number of meshable primitives; 3. a component which finds the optimal division numbers, based on a set of user specified ones, to fix the mesh density of object; 4. a component which generates a mesh elements in each primitive. Isoparametric smoothing is used to improve the quality of the elements generated.
