Abstract
Series of test on a new type of seismic isolation bearing are introduced in the paper. The new bearing is combined with Teflon sliding system and helical springs. The function for seismic isolation of the bearing is ensured by the sliding interface between the disc of Teflon and the stainless steel plate, while the restoring force is provided by springs. During the experiment, the frictional coefficients between Teflon sheet and steel plate were tested, and the hysteretic loops of the bearing excited by the sinusoidal and record earthquake waves were tested as well. In addition, the test of the hysteretic properties of the bearing under the dynamic pressures were carried out. It is shown that the sliding velocity, vertical pressure and types of seismic excitation have important effects on the frictional coefficients and hysteretic characteristics.
