Abstract

In this paper, aperture-coupled coplanar patch antennas (CPA) were investigated. The antennas were simulated with a commercial simulator, and then four samples were fabricated and measured. The comparison between the aperture-coupled CPA and the aperture-coupled microstrip patch antenna (MPA) with the same patch dimension was presented. The result shows that the return loss and the radiation pattern of the CPA are similar to the MPA, and the front-to-back ratio and the gain of the CPA are better than the MPA.
