Abstract
A new broadband microstrip antenna with a U-shaped slot was characterized using a finite-difference time-domain computer program. Two testing antennas A and B were fabricated to verify the computed program. A good agreement was found between the computed and measured results. The bandwidth of antenna A and B were 25% and 28% respectively. The radiation patterns and gains of two testing antennas were also presented.
