The information and automation technologies are one of the possible solutions to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of manufacturers. This paper firstly reviews how both theoretical models, technology acceptance model (TAM) and diffusion of innovation (DOI) to affect the application of technology. Then the German and China governmental policies are discussed and the current situation of using information and automation technology in manufacturing operation are discussed. Finally how the application of technology improving productivity is concluded.",
