Abstract

Treatment of [Et₄N]₂[WSe₄] with dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate (DMA) afforded the alkyne diselenolene complex [Et ₄N]₂[W(²-DMA){Se₂C ₂(CO₂Me)₂}₂] (1) along with a minor product, [Et₄N]₂[W(Se){Se₂C₂(CO ₂Me)₂}₂] (2). The crystal structures of both complexes have been determined by X-ray crystallography. Complex 1 is best described as a metallacyclopropene with two ene-diselenolate ligands.
