Biography

Prof. Linda Yin-King Lee is a professor at the School of Nursing and Health Sciences at Hong Kong Metropolitan University. She was a visiting scholar at the Cicely Saunders Institute of King’s College London in 2024. She earned her PhD from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and is a fellow in education and research at the Hong Kong Academy of Nursing. With 25 years of teaching experience and 10 years in administrative roles, Prof. Lee has significantly contributed to nursing education through her robust academic and professional engagement.

 

Prof. Lee is dedicated to advancing nursing and health research, with a focus on developing, disseminating, and applying scientific evidence to enhance the health of older adults. Her research addresses the challenges of ageing in place and expands to the concept of dying in place. She actively investigates gerontological care, healthy ageing, and health behaviours among older populations, with recent emphasis on integrating palliative care with dying in place.

 

Between 2014 and 2023, Prof. Lee played an instrumental role in a territory-wide training programme for health volunteers. Leading an academic team, she implemented flexible learning strategies to train over 3,000 health volunteers. These volunteers form a robust community network, providing basic healthcare support to older adults, facilitating ageing and dying in place. The programme has been recognized by over a hundred community organizations and has received multiple awards for its contributions to healthy ageing. Prof. Lee has also been honored with several awards for her exceptional contributions to this initiative.

 

Currently, Prof. Lee serves as a member of the Elderly Care Service Industry Training Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Government and the Council of Fu Hong Society. Her expertise and experience greatly enhance the support provided to community healthcare providers and their clients.
