Biography

Before joining HKMU, Professor LEE was the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Studies) of the Arts Faculty, Hong Kong Baptist University, and concurrently the Resident Master of CL Soong Hall, one of the Student Residence Halls. She joined HKBU in 2001 as a core academic member of the Humanities Programme. In 2009 she became the founding Programme Director of Liberal and Cultural Studies (LCS), a top-up degree programme, a position she held until 2016. That same year, she became the Associate Head of the Department of Humanities and Creative Writing.

Professor LEE is a dedicated teacher with a range of teaching experiences. Her pedagogical interest is in making the connection between literary and cultural studies and student well-being. In recent years, she had designed courses which employed popular cultural texts in the service of whole person education.

With a background in Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies, Professor LEE had published in areas such as feminist literary studies, young adult fiction, autobiographical writing, and popular fiction. She had also contributed creative non-fiction to academic journals, exploring the space of feminine experiences. Her most recent research project is an exploration of Creativity and Disabilities through the practice of Playback Theatre.
