TONG Tsz Ben Benson

Dr. Tong Tsz Ben Benson is a distinguished scholar in the field of Chinese Language and Literature. He earned his BA, MPhil, and PhD from Hong Kong Baptist University, showcasing a robust academic foundation. Currently, Dr. Tong serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Humanities, Language, and Translation at the School of Arts and Social Sciences, Hong Kong Metropolitan University. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he is the Programme Leader for the Master of Arts in Chinese Literature (MACLF) and the Chinese and English – BA (Hons), BA, and Associate Degree programmes (BAHCE).

Dr. Tong's research interests are deeply rooted in Classical Chinese Literature, Literary Criticism, Stylistics and Creative Writing. His scholarly contributions have been widely recognized, with numerous publications in esteemed academic journals such as Chinese Studies, Soochow Journal of Chinese Studies, Sino-Humanitas, and the Journal of Chinese Verse Studies.

His academic excellence has been acknowledged through several prestigious awards. In November 2023, Dr. Tong received the Theory Award of Excellence at the 2nd He Jianming Prize for Chinese Creative Writing and the Young Scholar Award at the 14th International Conference on Sinological Research of East Asia. Most recently, in March 2024, he was honored with the Excellence Award at an international competition in modern Chinese poetry organized by the International Contemporary Chinese Poetry Study Association.

Dr. Benson Tong's dedication to his field and his numerous accolades underscore his significant contributions to the study and appreciation of Chinese literature.
