Biography
Professor AU Kai Ming Alan obtained his Master of Business Administration from Massey University as well as Master of Management Studies and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Waikato. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute (CGI) in the United Kingdom and The Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute (HKCGI).
Professor AU started his academic career in New Zealand and had served in various academic positions in Hong Kong and New Zealand. In 1995, Professor AU joined HKMU, he was appointed as Associate Dean (B&A) in 2010.
With more than 25 years of experience at HKMU, Professor AU has emerged as a renowned academic in the business field. He contributed to the development of new full-time face-to-face programmes and the initiation of a new direction for the development and teaching of distance learning courses. Professor Au has brought about the production of a number of TV programmes on Corporate Governance, Management and Marketing for the University’s “Knowledge For All” programme telecasted on major public broadcasting channels in Hong Kong.
Professor AU has published widely in international refereed journals, covering areas such as business ethics, global management and marketing. He was a Regional Editor and Guest Editor for Cross Cultural Management Journal. He also published articles extensively in topics relating to branding, consumer behaviour, management and marketing communications (in Chinese) in major local newspapers and business magazines.
Professor AU is currently a member of the Professional Standards Committee of CGI. He had also served on the Council of HKMU, HKCGI and Hong Kong Institute of Marketing (HKIM) as well as the China Committee of CGI. He was the Vice-Chairman of HKIM and Membership Committee of HKICS. He was the China Academic Advisor for Enactus, a global non-profit organization active in over 40 countries. He is regularly invited by HKCAAVQ to serve as chairman or expert member in panels for the accreditation of both local and overseas academic programmes offered in Hong Kong. Professor AU is also frequently invited to serve as member of judging panels for marketing and corporate governance awards organized by local and regional professional bodies.
