Dr. Barry Mak is an Associate Professor at the Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration, Hong Kong Metropolitan University. He is a prolific author with 38 peer-reviewed publications in international journals, covering a range of areas including sustainable tourism development, trade travel management, and quality assurance. Dr. Mak has also been awarded a Sustainable Development Fund project by the Hong Kong SAR Government to investigate the role of the travel trade in reducing tourism's carbon footprint. Dr. Mak has a track record of conducting high-level consultancy projects for quasi-government organizations and universities in Hong Kong and overseas. His clients have included the Sai Kung District Board, the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Hong Kong Tourism Board, Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong, The Federation of Hong Kong Hotel Owners Association, Ocean Park Hong Kong, King Abdulaziz University, and the University of Tabuk. Dr. Mak has supervised three PhD and two D.HTM theses, all of which have been completed successfully. In addition to his journal publications, he has presented 42 refereed conference papers, authored a secondary school textbook, and contributed to a book chapter. Dr. Mak is the recipient of several research awards, including five best paper awards, an outstanding PhD thesis award, and the best undergraduate honors thesis award as chief supervisor. Dr. Mak's research agenda is focused on sustainable tourism development. He has been conducting research on tourism and hospitality sustainability for many years, and his work has contributed significantly to the field.
