Helping Educators Nurture the Next Generation of Good Citizens: Some Preliminary Findings on Meanings of ‘‘good citizenship’’ in the Perception of Social Leaders in Hong Kong
This presentation investigates the meanings of “good citizenship” in the post-pandemic world from the perspectives of social leaders in Hong Kong in the fields of politics, finance, business, social welfare, technology, and education. It explores the impact of post-pandemic trends on different dimensions of citizenship (e.g. identity, membership, rights, responsibilities, participation, voices) against the background of “digitalization” and social changes in Hong Kong. The insights gained into the meanings and content of good citizenship may inform the policies and practices of social leaders, researchers, makers of corporate social responsibility initiatives, public policy makers, school curriculum planners, and frontline teachers.
